Graduation and College Fest Photos: Find Yours with a Selfie

How students find their own convocation, graduation and college fest photos with a QR code and a selfie, and how photographers set it up for big crowds.

The short answer

  • At a convocation or college fest, each student scans a QR code, takes a selfie and gets only the photos they are in.
  • It solves the biggest problem at graduations, finding one stage moment among thousands of near-identical photos.
  • At school events, a parent or guardian must agree for anyone under 18 and take the selfie with them.
  • A convocation with a few thousand graduates usually needs Premium (10,000 photos) or Signature (20,000 photos).

Students find their own graduation and college event photos by scanning the event's QR code and taking one selfie. Face recognition then shows each student only the photos they are in: crossing the stage, receiving the degree, the batch photo, the moments with friends. Nobody has to scroll through thousands of photos of other graduates in identical gowns.

That last problem is why graduations are one of the hardest events for photo delivery. Every graduate wants the same kind of photo, at the same spot on the stage, and they all look alike in the album.

How it works at a convocation

  1. The photographer shoots the ceremony as usual. With Snaptrace, the Camera Agent on their laptop uploads each photo as it is taken. Several cameras can upload from one laptop, so a stage camera and a crowd camera can both feed the same gallery.
  2. The QR code is shown at the venue: on the stage screen before the ceremony, on the seat or the programme, and at the exit.
  3. Graduates and families scan it, agree to face matching and take a selfie. No name, email, roll number or phone number is asked for.
  4. Each graduate sees only their photos, often before they have left the hall. Parents can scan too and take a selfie to find the photos they are in.

Tips for the stage moment

  • Shoot every graduate from the same spot, facing the camera at the handover. Those are the frames graduates look for first.
  • Take two frames per graduate if the pace allows. One will have the eyes open.
  • Keep the faces clear. Caps are fine, but a face turned away from the camera is hard to match.
  • Photograph the batch and department groups as well. Each person in the group finds the photo with their own selfie.

College fests, annual days and sports days

Fests are the opposite of a convocation: loud, crowded, spread over several days and stages. The same QR code works across all of them. A multi-day fest is one gallery, students take one selfie, and new photos from each day and each venue appear in it as they are uploaded. Photos are grouped by moment, so the cultural night, the pro show and the sports finals stay apart.

Put the QR code on the fest pass or wristband card, at the entry gates, and on the screen between performances. Ask the host to mention it once from the main stage.

School events and students under 18

Snaptrace requires a parent or legal guardian's consent for anyone under 18. At a school annual day, sports day or school graduation, the parent should scan the QR code, agree on the child's behalf and take the selfie together with the child, or search for the child themselves. Tell parents this in the invitation or the programme so they know what to expect.

Snaptrace never asks for a name, email or phone number, and the selfie is not stored. The photos, face data and searches are deleted automatically when the gallery closes. The guest privacy notice explains it for parents.

Which plan fits

Snaptrace charges per event, by the number of photos. Students and parents never pay.

Event Typical size Plan
Department farewell or club event Up to 2,000 photos Essential, ₹449
School annual day or sports day Up to 5,000 photos Classic, ₹999
Convocation, a few thousand graduates Up to 10,000 or 20,000 photos Premium, ₹1,699, or Signature, ₹2,999
Multi-day college fest Up to 20,000 or 35,000 photos Signature, ₹2,999, or Legacy, ₹4,799

If an event runs past its limit, a top-up adds photos to the same event, from ₹180 for 1,000. The gallery stays open for the event days plus 5 to 14 days, depending on the plan. Remind students to download their photos before it closes. See pricing for every plan.

Questions people ask

How do I find my graduation photos?

If your convocation photographer uses Snaptrace, scan the event QR code shown at the venue or shared by your college, take a selfie, and the gallery shows only the photos you are in.

Do students need to give their roll number or phone number?

No. Snaptrace finds photos by face. It does not ask for a name, roll number, email or phone number.

Can parents find photos of their child?

Yes. For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian must agree and take the selfie together with the child, or search on the child's behalf.

Can a college fest use one gallery for all its days?

Yes. A multi-day fest is one event and one gallery. Students take one selfie, and photos from every day appear in it.

How long can students download their photos?

For the event days plus 5 to 14 days after, depending on the photographer's plan. Then the photos and face data are deleted automatically.
